When Your Venue's Documents Repeat or Disagree

The AI assistant that answers your venue's visitors answers from what your team gives it: the files on the Content screen and the pages it reads from your website. Over time, the same text tends to arrive more than once. The restaurant hours are uploaded as a PDF, typed again as a note and published on the website too. And sometimes two documents stop agreeing: a summer notice says the pool closes at 22:00 while the general guide still says 20:00. This update handles both.

The same text goes in once

When you add a file on the Content screen, it is compared with everything the venue already has. If its text is already there, it is not added. The screen names the document that holds it, and you choose: Replace that document with the new file, or Discard the new one.

The comparison looks at the words, not at the file. A text typed again in capitals, split into different paragraphs or saved in another format is still the same text.

A file that is mostly the same as one the venue has, such as last year's guide with a few lines changed, is not added straight away either. It waits under Already in your content, with how much of it is the same, until someone decides: Replace, Add anyway or Discard.

The same check runs when your website is read. A page that repeats a document the venue already has is left out, and the read lists it with that document's name. If the document is removed later, the page is added on the next read.

Documents in your content that say mostly the same thing, such as ones added before this update, are listed under Possible duplicates. Remove the older one, or keep both if they are meant to be separate.

When two documents disagree

Visitors ask about times, prices, dates and rules, and those are the facts that change. Each passage now reaches the assistant with the date its document was last updated and where it came from: an uploaded file, the website or text written by your staff. When two passages disagree about such a fact, the assistant no longer picks one silently:

  • if one document is clearly the newer version of the other, it answers from that one and says it is the newer information,
  • otherwise it says that the venue's information differs, gives both and says who to ask.

Your team sees each disagreement under Conflicting content on the Content screen: the two documents, how many answers it came up in and the latest question that brought it up. Compare shows the two side by side, and This one is right under the correct one removes the other. Keep both takes the pair off the list when both are right, for example opening hours for two different seasons.

Reading your website, more reliably

The Sources tab, where the venue's website is read every night, also got a set of fixes:

  • an address that redirects within the same site, such as from http to https or to the www address, is now followed, so the site is read instead of coming back empty, and an address that redirects to another site says which address to enter instead,
  • while a read is running, the tab shows how long it has been reading and how many pages it has read, Cancel stops it without changing anything, and Read now can be used once every 10 minutes,
  • each read under History lists the pages that could not be read and the pages that were left out, each with its reason,
  • Leave out pages about one person now looks at what a page says, not only at its address.
