A creator who makes ads with ToRun asked us a simple question: do you send my reference pictures as they are? Until now, every picture was resized and saved again before it reached the video model. From this release, your pictures reach the model the way you uploaded them.
What changed
- No resizing. A picture keeps its full size unless the model you chose needs a smaller one.
- No new compression. A JPEG stays the same JPEG and a PNG the same PNG, so no detail is lost on the way.
- Your personal details stay with you. Location and camera details stored in a photo are removed before it leaves ToRun. The picture itself is not touched.
- Pictures made in ToRun go unchanged. An image you generated on ToRun is sent exactly as it was made, unless the model needs one of the changes below.
When a picture is still adapted
Some models set rules of their own, and then we follow them:
- Seedance works with pictures up to 2048 px on the long side (4096 px for a 4K video). A larger picture is scaled down to that size, and a transparent background becomes white, because a video frame has no transparency.
- Sora needs the picture to match the video frame, so it is fitted to the frame.
- Formats a model does not take are converted, for example a WebP for a model that takes only JPEG and PNG, or an iPhone HEIC photo. A photo saved sideways is turned upright first.
See it before you render
In the video studio on the web, a line under the pictures now tells you what happens to them with the model you picked: sent as uploaded, scaled down past a stated size, or fitted to the frame. You know before you spend anything.
