Ada was building a tiny tower when a blue bird tapped on the window. “Help!” chirped the bird. “The moon has lost its silver bell!” Ada put on her boots and followed the bird into the garden. Behind the roses, they found a little golden door. Ada opened it, and whoosh! A windy path carried them up into the night sky. They walked past sleepy stars and fluffy clouds until they reached the moon. “My bell rolled into the Cave of Echoes,” said the moon. “But the cave is dark.” Ada felt a small wiggle of fear in her tummy. She took one deep breath. “I will try,” she said. Inside the cave, every sound bounced around. “Hello!” called Ada. “Hello, hello, hello!” answered the cave. Then she heard a tiny ring. Ada followed the sound and found the silver bell under a round rock. She pushed with both hands. The rock rolled away, and Ada lifted the bell high. The moon rang it once. Ding! At once, the stars danced, the clouds clapped, and the blue bird spun in happy circles. The windy path carried Ada safely home. On her pillow was a silver feather, shining softly. And all night long, the moon seemed to whisper, “Thank you, brave Ada.”
