Good evening, everyone. For those I haven’t met, I’m one of Alex’s best friends. It’s a real privilege to be here, celebrating two people who mean so much to all of us. Alex has always been the friend you can count on. He shows up. He listens. And he somehow knows when you need honest advice—and when you just need someone beside you. He’s thoughtful, loyal, and generous. Although his confidence in giving directions is wildly out of proportion to his actual sense of direction. So, Deniz, if Alex ever says, “Trust me, I know a shortcut,” please make sure your phone is fully charged. Then Deniz came into his life, and something wonderful happened. Alex was still completely himself—just happier. Calmer. Even more certain of what mattered. It quickly became clear that Deniz wasn’t simply someone Alex loved. Deniz was his person. The one he wanted beside him for ordinary mornings, big adventures, and every unexpected detour. Deniz, your warmth, intelligence, and kindness are impossible to miss. You bring out the very best in Alex—not by changing him, but by making him feel completely at home as himself. And Alex, your love and admiration for Deniz are clear in every glance, every small gesture, and every story you tell. The most beautiful thing about the two of you is the friendship at the heart of your relationship. You laugh together. You support each other. You face life as a team. You remind us that love isn’t a grand performance. It’s a choice. A choice you make again and again—in the extraordinary moments and in the everyday ones.
