Live Translation has its own page now — here is how it works and how to get the most out of it.
The basics
- Open Live Translation from the menu.
- Pick your two languages.
- Start talking. Your speech is transcribed, translated, and delivered in near real time.
Live Transcription works the same way for a single language when you just need text from speech.
Tips for better output
- One speaker at a time. The system handles natural pauses well; crosstalk degrades any speech model.
- Name your domain. Technical vocabulary lands better after a sentence of context, e.g. opening with what the conversation is about.
- Decent audio in, decent translation out. A phone on a table works; a phone in a pocket does not.
Billing
Sessions are metered by audio time at the rate shown before you start — the ledger records each session like any other AI call.
Known limits
Very fast code-switching (mixing both languages inside one sentence) can confuse direction detection. Long silences are fine — the session stays up but idle time is not translated.
Questions below — and if you hit a reproducible problem, the Troubleshooting category with a timestamp helps us chase it.
