When you ask ToRun to create or edit an image, the request goes to the provider of the model you chose, or of the model Auto picked for you. Most requests come back with a picture. Some fail, and until this update one kind of failure was charged when it should not have been.
A refusal before any work is free
A provider can refuse a request outright, before it makes anything, because it cannot accept the request as it was sent. Such a refusal used to be charged in part, like a request that failed halfway through. It is now free. So is a request that was never sent to a provider at all.
When a failed request is still charged
Some requests fail after the provider has started on them:
- the provider's content rules stopped the image after its safety check had run,
- the provider ran into a problem of its own or did not answer in time,
- or you cancelled the request while the image was being made.
In these cases the provider may already have done the work and charged for it, so these requests are still charged, as they were before.
Songs and images from Stability AI work again
From late October, Stability AI refused every request we sent it, because of how our requests were put together. Every song made with Stable Audio 2.5 failed, including the songs Auto sent to it, and so did every image made with a Stability AI image model. This is fixed, and both work again. A song that failed was not charged.
A new Apple account works from the start
If you created your ToRun account with Sign in with Apple in the iPhone app, some screens could fail to load for the first few seconds, because the new account received its permissions only after sign-up had finished. A new account now has them as soon as it is created.
